The Kamino-cloner car we showed you earlier is one of a few Suzuki concepts we'll be seeing first-hand later this month at the Tokyo Auto Show. A second concept car to see the sheets drop from atop it is the Suzuki X-HEAD concept car. its' like a mix between a Hummer, an El Camino and umm — a Tonka truck? We're at a loss for words here — but we're loving it. Full press release below the jump in all of its ESL glory and here is the high-res shot of the concept car/truck/SUV/El Camino. X-HEAD "X-HEAD" is " the cross utility vehicle " of the new genre which brings the various values which until recently are not. It has high running the whole distance characteristic, the "gym knee", "the escudo", it has high loading characteristic, DNA "of [kiyarii]" was succeeded, functional hopefulness was had. The naming, "X-HEAD" adjusting to the life style and sense of value of the person who rides, has meant the possibility this car which corresponds to various uses becoming unknown. Being possible to combine the carrier unit which is adjusted to life style 2 adults sleeps and can stay " the camper " and in the town coolly to ride it handles, " fashion " and so on, the person who rides " you play and stimulate heart and curiosity ". First 2010 Chevy Camaro Convertible Arrives in Middle East

We're still more than a year away from the launch of the convertible version of the new Chevy Camaro, yet a luxury car dealership in Abu Dhabi called 'Princesscar' has put on sale what they describe to be the first drop top example of GM's muscle car to arrive in the Middle East.

However, since the odds of GM having supplied the Middle Eastern dealer with the yet to be revealed in production guise Camaro SS Convertible are less than the probabilities of discovering alien life in our solar system, we'll just assume that this example was built by an independent coachbuilder like NCE or Drop Top Customs. Pininfarina Teases Alfa Romeo Spider Concept Ahead of Geneva Show

In celebration of its own 80th anniversary and Alfa Romeo's 100th birthday, famous Italian design house Pininfarina announced that it will be unveiling a new roadster concept model at this year's Geneva Salon on March 2.

Pininfarina said in a statement that the two seater concept car will blend modern with vintage styling cues from classic Alfa Romeo Spiders of the past. Aside from the teaser sketch seen above, the Italian company did not release any other images or details on the roadster model.

Miniature Hydrocar Runs on Water, Solar Energies

A miniature kit of a hydrocar that runs on water and solar energies is designed to educate children about the mechanisms of a future hybrid vehicle.

The kit is modeled on a hydrogen-based fuel car which uses a solar cell to electrolytically decompose water into hydrogen and oxygen and recombine the two types of gases to generate electricity for a motor.

The 21 centimeter-long car detects its forward route with built-in sensors which also guide it around obstacles. The easy-to-assemble miniature is for children 12 and over.

The Horizon Hydrocar is sold by Outride Brandship Builder Inc. for ¥19,950. .

Miniature Steam Engine Projects

Mr. Warren is a retired chemical engineer with a background in research and development. He worked for Firestone Tire for forty years and retired in 1982. He had no formal training as a machinist but always had a strong interest in working with metal dating from when he purchased a used 10" Atlas lathe in 1943.
This model 1830 Stevenson steam engine began life in the 1940's and was just recently completed. Mr. Warren turned the boiler and stack from aircraft aluminum left over from fighter plane production in World War II. He scaled it from a pencil drawing he found in a history book. The model remained unfinished until he purchased a Sherline mill about four years ago. He then machined the rest of the parts to finish the locomotive, making this a fifty-five year project!

Miniature Steam Engine Projects

A replica of a double acting 1880's steam drilling engine, this model is based on PM Research kit Model #1. It has a 1" bore and 1-1/2" stroke. The 6-1/2" flywheel was turned on a full size lathe. The solid walnut base sets off the aluminum and brass parts to give the model a rich look. All of Mr. Warren's projects exhibit excellent craftsmanship.

This is a unique old fashioned, metal, convertible top metal car pencil sharpener. All four wheels turn. The top leans back and you have an open view of the interior. The license plate has the year 1917 on it. This item needs to be cleaned. The only thing I see missing is the actual wheel of the steering wheel.
